Innovation and Technology

Shaping Futures

Lakeview’s innovation and technology program aims to empower students to be innovative thinkers and leaders and to harness technology as a problem-solving tool. The foundational basics are introduced in lower school classes, and a robotics club is offered to 4th and 5th grade students. Students may join robotics teams starting in middle school and continuing through high school. Lakeview is one of the few schools in the area with competitive teams, and they compete as part of a global program.

Lower School: Grades 1-5

Introduction to the Foundational Basics

The Lower School innovation and technology classes teach students the basics of programming, circuitry, and engineering through open-ended challenges.  Students learn that failure is not an endpoint, but feedback from which to learn.

Middle School: Grades 6-8

Digital Design and Programming

In Middle School, Lakeview emphasizes each child’s individual interests and designs courses to allow students to pursue either a digital design or programming focus.  These “choose-you-own-adventure” projects reinforce individual agency, all while students contribute to a collaborative goal in the classroom.

Upper School: Grades 9-12

Exploring Engineering, Computer Science and Video Production

In Upper School, students can explore technology and engineering through computer science courses offered at Lakeview and through Georgia Tech, digital media classes, and in response to a growing interest, courses in engineering and video production.
